For this assignment, I took a set of pictures of staples, cards, and sticks as well as a group of blocks and little windup toys. To create a shallow depth of field/large aperture, which makes the photograph less in focus, you would use a small f stop. To create a large depth of field/small aperture, you would use a small f stop, which makes the picture more in focus. To create my photographs with a sharp focus I used an f22 or f16 f-stop. To create the photos that are less in focus, I used f4 f-stop. To change the focus in the photographs you use manual focus on the camera. The photo that is the best in this collection is my fourth photo with the seal in focus and the cookie monster blurred in the background. This photograph is the best because it clearly shows small depth of field and the focus changes between the two main objects in the picture. You would use a shallow depth of field when you would want to be able to direct the viewer's attention to a particular spot in the photo. A situation where you would want a large depth of field would be when taking large portraits of people where you want all the faces to be seen. Taking pictures of landscapes would also be a situation that a large depth of field would be better.
